Why I Chose This Program
-After my experience with the FYI Prague program, I knew doing a full semester abroad was something I wanted to do. My grandparents have always been very supportive of my travel ambitions and have been pushing me to spend a semester overseas since I graduated high school. When I decided to Co-op my sophomore year of college, I was forced to push my graduation back a full year. The senior design requirements for Mechanical Engineering caused me to add an entire fifth year of college when I only needed to add one semester. This resulted in me having a semester of my fourth year completely free, and it seemed like the perfect opportunity to take a break from engineering classes and study in Europe for a semester. My friend Jake Allen approached me last year about the GLM program that him and his girlfriend were looking at doing. I looked into it and it seemed like a great opportunity and adventure. After talking about it with some of our other friends, we were able to convince three more of our friends to apply for the program. After getting all of us on board, committing to this program was a no-brainer.
PERSONAL TRIP HIGHLIGHT
ST. ANTON AM ARLBERG
During our weekend off in Innsbruck, me and three of my friends woke up early and took a train to the St. Anton Am Arlberg ski area. This area had 88 lifts and connected 5 separate towns with lift systems and skiable runs. Skiing here gave me an appreciation for the size of the Austrian Alps and showed me how greatly the sport and recreation industry invested in infrastructure within Innsbruck and the surrounding areas.
